It feels amazing to see that the game you were waiting for to play has been launched. But the most horrific part comes when you download it.
This happens with most of us. We click on the ‘Install’ button and then our consoles want us to leave them for hours until the game gets downloaded.
The same happened with a number of Xbox One users.
Unfortunately, if you are also experiencing the slow downloads on your Xbox One, then worry no more because I have come up with certain tricks for you.
But, have you ever thought of finding the root cause behind it.
Well, there are a number of possibilities why this might be happening as several factors play their role when you download games on any console.
So, if you also want to learn those tricks about which I have spoken earlier, then do not go anywhere as we are going to jump right into them.
Reclaim the faster download speed on Xbox One
Here are a few things we are going to try:
- Check the connection of your console
- Restart it
- Close other games and apps running in the background
- Switch from wireless to wired connection
- Try changing the DNS settings
First of all, we shall check the connection because the problem could be lying with the home network, the internet service provider (ISP), or Microsoft itself and for this, you are suggested to follow the steps given below:
- The first thing here is to open the Settings applet of your console.
- From here, go to the General tab.
- Further, select ‘Network settings’.
- Now, click on ‘Test network speed and statistics’.
As soon as you do this, a network test will take place in which you could learn about the root cause of the problem.
If you find anything inappropriate, then you may take measures to get rid of the issue.
Restart your console
Well, this is the old school trick for rectifying any minor issue with any tech, gadget, or program.
The same classic trick goes well for Xbox One as well. Doing this will restore the speed back to normal.
But, before restarting your console, make sure you put a pause on the ongoing downloads and then perform the restart.
For the restarting purpose, you just need to hold down the power button for a few seconds and then wait for a few more seconds and then turn it on again.
Close all apps and games
With that said, you must know how to do so. To fully close a game on Xbox One, there are certain easy steps.
First things first, you need to press the Xbox button to open the Guide menu.
Further, you are required to scroll down on this menu to find out the most recent game you have played.
Then, you have to click on the menu again which is usually represented by three lines or dots.
When the pop-up menu appears on your screen, select the ‘Quit’ option to fully close the game.
Now, you should resume the downloading process and see if you are able to do so or not.
In my personal opinion, I would suggest Xbox One owners opt for a wired connection instead of the wireless one to boost the downloading speed because it offers high-speed internet connectivity.
On top of that, you can also try changing the DNS Settings, if no other trick works out.
